Some international schools base their teaching on a self-designed or bespoke curriculum. Unlike government-run schools in most countries, international schools that want a curriculum more tailored to their own specific setting and cohort, have the freedom and flexibility to design their own.
In some instances, this curriculum can be 'based' on one globally recognised curricula such as the UK National Curriculum or the IB programme. It's important for parents to understand, though, that only schools authorised by the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO) can teach the IB's PYP, MYP, IBDP and/or IBCP.
Other schools develop their own international curriculum, which takes elements from several countries such as the UK, US, Canada, Singapore, China and Hong Kong.
