18th Place: Horizon International (80% would recommend)

Known previously as Star international, Horizon International follows the Early Years Foundation Stage and the National Curriculum of England. Students take a combination of IGCSE/ GCSE’s at the end of Key Stage 4 leading into A’ Levels from the 2016 Academic year.

The school's students are well supported by teachers with 64 teachers looking after 700 students. The school's teachers are all appropriately qualified - key to parent satisfaction. Also serving Horizon International well will be the sense of inclusion at the school and the positive can do attitude of its students.

In June 2013 the school was purchased by Al Najah Education, itself owned by Al Masah Capital Limited, an alternative investment manager, which had acquired Horizon School near Safa Park (rated outstanding by the KHDA) a year earlier. Horizon International is intended to provide the “through school” support to enable students to transfer seamlessly from Primary to Secondary and there is reportedly close cooperation between both schools. As a financially oriented company, Al Najah Education will no doubt have pushed both schools for more financial rigor and perhaps a greater focus on making the school pay. Judging by our survey's response that however that does not seem to have dented parent sentiment yet however.

Horizon International is positioned as a premium tier Dubai school. Fees at the school currently range from 30,453 AED to 71,000 AED.
