India International School, Sharjah

India International School, Sharjah is a private school located in Muweilah. Currently the school serves students from KG to Grade 9.

The school was established on October 2011 by the Pace Group and follows a Montessori curriculum for kindergarten students and an Indian Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) curriculum for senior school students.

The school does have a Web site, but information is limited. Neither fees nor detailed curriculum information are published by the school. However, KG fees are believed to begin at around 6,000 AED. The school has an examination for entry – details of which may be found here.

Reaction to the school so far has been mixed. As a new-ish school it has been one of the few institutions that has been, relatively, easy to get into at KG level. However, equally some parents have expressed concerns regarding teething pains – organisation, teaching and overall performance have come under scrutiny.

The Pace group told UAE newspaper, the National in 2011 it was embarking on a drive to build more primary and secondary Indian curriculum based schools. ”

“We are planning to expand our existing enterprise in the Gulf to target lower and middle-income families who often feel left out from private schooling. Indian schools [in the Gulf] are oversubscribed, and fees are rising, and we want to offer something that is more affordable for Indian families,” said PA Ibrahim, the chairman of the Pace Group. He said the initial investment for his education project would be about US$10 million (Dh36.7m) to $15m.

Currently the Pace group operates one other school in the UAE, Gulf Asian English School.

Feedback to WhichSchoolAdvisor.com has for the most part been positive, but teacher turnover has been noted as an issue – most noted when parents of students are not as happy with the change in actual teacher.

My children are studying in this school in class 6. The teachers are not up to the mark, sanitation facilities are very bad, but the studies are very good. I would advise you to choose another school.

May I ask what kind of experience you had…because right now I am searching school for my child, and I am very much concern about school reputation and bus driver behaviour as well… Kindly tell me your opinion about this school, and about fees too… Thank you.

In my opinion teachers actually don’t know how to teach and they have a lot of funny rules in the school . My personal advice is not to enrol your ward at the school.

My child is studying in this school for past 2 years. Last years teacher was so good so my child improved a lot. But this year there is no permanent class teacher, no computer teacher.
No point in the open house, as the new teachers don’t know anything about the child, what new teacher can tell the parents. So please appoint a permanent teacher for a academic year. Most of the parents are telling the teachers are not permanent in other classes also.

I am very happy about the progress of the school.Their teaching, concern for children etc is very good. One thing is very upsetting is regarding bus management: It is so bad that children are overcrowded. Some go standing every day, children vomit and cry because of this. All the parents are complaining about the same problem. The bus management is simply ignoring our problem. Kindly add one more bus to our route. {120 b}.

My two children started studying from this academic year. Our first 2 months experience has not been good. Teachers not focused. School management seem to concentrate on taking new admissions. Every week there have been changing class teachers and divisions. Teachers seem helpless.

My advice don’t choose this school.
