Building Blocks, Dubai Motor City

Building Blocks is located in Motorcity, Dubai and caters to children aged four months through to six years of age. It divides classes up into Infant, Toddler, Nursery and Preschool.

The school’s Web site looks great, but is missing the key information you really want to know – information such as timings, and fees. However, the ‘enrichment centre’ is open from Sunday to Thursday, 7:30am-6:30pm and costs around 10,000 AED per term – making it one of the more expensive nurseries in Dubai.

That said, Building Blocks is more of a facility than simple nursery. It calls itself an enrichment centre because of the wide range of activities children can participate in - Arts and Crafts, Ballet, Cooking, Dance, Languages (Arabic and French), Music, Science, Sports, Yoga… The only real weakness with the facilities that we can see is its outdoor playing space – which is said to be very small indeed.

The facility claims to follow the UK’s Early Years and Foundation Stage of National Curriculum and says it adheres to standards that the United Kingdom’s Office for Standards in Education (OFSTED) has laid down.

The buzz

Lots of positive comments from parents. Children seem happy enough. The only two negatives that repeat often – price and the (lack of) outdoor play space.
